Fuel Oil

Fuel oil is a compound of hydrocarbons, petroleum resins, and metals (nickel, ferrum, calcium, vanadium, and magnesium) complemented by carbides and asphaltenes.

Types of fuel oil
M-40
Heating oil M-40 is produced from the remnants of oil refining, classified as an average boiler fuel. Diesel fractions (8-15%) are added to it, thus reducing the setting point to 10℃.
M-100
Heavy fuel oil is obtained from the residues of atmospheric and vacuum distillation of oil with the addition of gas oil fractions. Fuel oil M-100 brand does not contain diesel fractions, but when they are added, M-40 can be obtained.
Heating oil is used as fuel: M-100 is mainly used in boiler houses and heating systems, and M-40 is used in industrial furnaces. Oil product is widely used in boiler-rooms to heat houses, and generate hot water or steam. A special brand, TCM fuel oil, is used for heating steam boilers and industrial furnace installations.
A mixture of straight-run fuel oil (60-70%) and diesel fuel with a depressant additive (30-40%) is used to make F-5 marine fuel oil. The F-12 oil product is usually produced in relatively small quantities using the technology of direct distillation. This marine fuel oil has a reduced sulfur content (0.6% at 2.0% in the F-5 grade) and high viscosity (12 ° C at 50 ° C at 5 ° C in the f-5 grade).
F-5 and F-12 fuel oils are classified as heavy motor fuels along with diesel fuel. Another type of marine fuel is distillate TMS.

Fuel oil is classified according to the content of sulfur, which has a decisive effect on the composition of flue gases during the combustion of the substance. The table shows the maximum mass fraction of sulfur as a percentage for each type of fuel:
- Type I — 0.5 %
- Type II — 1.0 %
- Type III — 1.5 %
- Type IV — 2.0 %
- Type V — 2.5 %
- Type VI — 3.0 %
- Type VII — 3.5 %
