Diesel fuel
Diesel fuel (DT) is an oil product consisting of a mixture of hydrocarbons obtained by distillation and selection of certain fractions.

The oil is processed using distillation columns, and heated to the required temperature for separation into fractions.

The diesel fraction – about a fourth of it – is obtained when heated to 180-360 °C. The rest is obtained as a result of cracking processes with catalysts such as metal, hydrogen, or high temperature. Up to 80% of the diesel fuel is obtained at the cracking stage. At the end, it is subjected to alkaline purification.

  • DT-L, Grade C — summer (- 5°C);
  • DT-E — off-season (- 15 °C);
  • DT-Z — winter (- 20°C);
  • DT-A — Arctic (- 38 °C).
Labeling by climatic conditions:
  • DT K2 — contains less than 500 ppm (mg/kg) of sulphur
  • DT K3 — contains less than 350 ppm (mg/kg) of sulphur
  • DT K4 — contains less than 50 ppm (mg/kg) of sulphur
  • DT K5 — contains less than 10 ppm (mg/kg) of sulphur
Labeling by environmental class:
Diesel is typical for refueling almost any type of transport:

The Euro-5 classification, which is widespread among consumers, was the first after the Soviet GOST standards to become widespread when labeling Russian diesel. You can see more foreign cars than domestic ones on Russian roads. The European standard EN 590-2009 is not valid in Russia, but the Russian GOST 32511-2013 is based on it.

Euro-5 or EN 590-2009 is a standard adopted by the European Union that defines the permissibility of using certain classes of diesel in certain climatic zones. Russia and the countries of the Customs Union control two parameters when labeling diesel fuel for sale: the content of sulfur impurities (environmental friendliness) and the filtering temperature (climatic uses).
At the same time, in the quality certificates for diesel fuel and other petroleum products, different characteristics of the batch must be indicated — viscosity, water content, cetane number, or flammability.
